Built for the Office Golfer
Independent gear reviews by real weekend golfers
About Ryan
I'm Ryan O. — a weekend golfer based in Chicago. I picked up golf in 2010, starting on indoor simulators around the city trying to figure out why the ball kept going right, then moving to real rounds — which is where the obsession took hold. Now I play as often as the schedule allows, primarily out of Harborside Golf Course, plus whatever Chicagoland public course has a tee time open.
I started Cubical Golfer in 2026 because most golf gear reviews felt like they were written in a lab. Here is the thing about the average golfer: you are not consistent. You drive the ball well on Saturday and cannot find the fairway on Sunday. You sat at a desk all week, did not sleep well because the kids were up, and your back is tight from a 9-hour workday. That is the person testing the equipment on this site — not a robot arm, not a scratch player who hits 500 balls a day. Real-world golfers living real-world lives, loving a new putter one round and questioning it the next. That is what honest testing looks like.
I play year-round when Chicago weather allows it (roughly March through November), practice at the range 1-2 times per week, and squeeze in rounds after work whenever the tee sheet has a late-afternoon opening. If you have ever checked tee times during a meeting, scheduled a "dentist appointment" on a Friday afternoon, or kept a packed golf bag in your trunk all week — this site is for you.

Our Editorial Policy
I earn affiliate commissions from some links on this site. If you click a link and buy something, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This does NOT affect my rankings or recommendations. I have declined to recommend products I was paid to promote because they weren't genuinely the best option.
I do not accept paid placements or editorial conditions. Loaned review units are disclosed in the review itself and returned afterwards. No manufacturer has editorial control or advance review of my content. For full details, see our affiliate disclosure.

Where to Find Me
How I Test
Tested Across a Full Season
Every piece of gear is tested across a full season before I write about it. I form opinions on the 14th hole, not from spec sheets.
Bought With My Own Money
No freebies and no editorial strings. Almost everything here I bought with money I could have spent on greens fees. Nothing on this site is a manufacturer loan, freebie, or sponsored placement.
Written From My Cubicle
I write for the golfer with a full-time job, limited practice time, and a real budget. If you've ever checked tee times during a meeting, this site is for you.
Regularly Updated
Every guide is reviewed annually. Gear that no longer represents best value gets removed — no matter how much I liked it.
