Garmin R10 vs Rapsodo MLM2Pro — Which Wins?

Over 200 paired shots, the MLM2Pro delivered spin readings within 150 rpm of our SkyTrak+ baseline on 78% of shots; the R10 was within 150 rpm only 52% of the time. On ball speed, the R10 was actually more consistent — within 0.5 mph on 91% of shots vs 85% for the MLM2Pro. Carry distance readings were nearly identical on both units. This is the decisive factor. The MLM2Pro excels indoors — the camera system works well in controlled lighting with minimal setup. Outdoors, it struggles in direct sunlight and wind. The R10 is the opposite — Doppler radar handles sun and wind naturally, but indoor accuracy drops slightly because the radar has less distance to track the ball. In my garage (9-foot ceilings, 10 feet of depth), the MLM2Pro was noticeably more reliable — consistent spin data and clean shot detection. The R10 missed about 1 in 15 shots indoors. At the outdoor range, the roles reversed: the R10 was rock-solid while the MLM2Pro occasionally struggled with bright afternoon sun reflecting off the hitting mat.

The Garmin Golf app is the more polished experience and integrates with Garmin watches for on-course data. The Rapsodo app has the better video overlay feature. If you already wear a Garmin watch, the R10 ecosystem advantage is significant. If you do not, the apps are comparable.
