But for the weekend golfer who walks 18 holes: spikeless shoes are lighter (less fatigue over 5 miles), more comfortable on cart paths and concrete (no cleat-click), more versatile (drive to course, play, drive home — no shoe change), and have enough traction for 95% of conditions. The only time I miss spikes: walking down a steep, rain-soaked slope to a tee box. For everything else, spikeless is better for walkers.

The premium leather upper ages beautifully. The BIOM Natural Motion outsole mimics barefoot movement for the most natural walking feel of any golf shoe. At $200 it is an investment, but the per-round cost is lower than cheaper shoes that wear out in one season.

The Nike Air Max 90 G ($150) is for the golfer who wants to look good on and off the course.
